The construction of the bakery commenced in 1958 to supply the citizens of Ostrava and the inhabitants of the newly created suburb of Poruba with baked products.
In the Autumn of 1960 the first trials were produced and full capacity was achieved in 1961. Initially the bakery produced daily bread rolls, buns , pastries and cakes and subsequently moved towards specialising in the production of pastries and cakes. Over time it was decided to produce baked products for Ostrava and it's close neighbours.

Until 1989 the bakery was part of "Severomoravských pekáren a cukráren" (North Moravian Bread and Confectioners). From 1991 it belonged to the state owned company "Pekárny Ostrava" (Ostrava Bakery). Consequently within the company privatisation process in 1996 the company became the property of
PEKAŘI a spol., spol. s r.o. (PEKARI and Co. Ltd.) , which was established by a number of the employees of the state bakery.
A new era began, firstly to raise our built-up reputation amongst the increasing competition in the baking industry.
